2003 Paso Robles Zinfandel
This wine is our first effort outside of the garage. We had spent three years bringing a five-acre vineyard of head-trained Zinfandel back into balance. Finally the 2003 harvest was in balance. This shows in the polite amount of alcohol, juxtaposed with the soft approachable layers of fruit. It makes a lovely dinner wine that matches, but does not overpower, many of our family meals.

2004 Paso Robles Zinfandel
The 2004 harvest allowed us to make a much bigger Zinfandel. It is like the Holy Grail of Zin lovers. High in alcohol, but not hot, fruity with good expressions of pepper and just a hint of toasted hazelnuts. The ‘04 Zin goes well with the Central Coast’s signature dish of BBQ tri tip. It also shows wonderfully alone with friends enjoying the late evening on the porch overlooking the vineyard on a full moon night.

2006 Paso Robles Barbera
Barbera makes a wonderful wine, when grown in the right terrior. Chalky clay soil and hot days tame the acids. Little, too no water concentrates the flavors to perfection. The hints of chocolate mocha, good tobacco and leather underlay the blueberry and dark cherry on the front of the palate. It is a fine compliment to any dish that is rich and slightly, sweet like Kansas City style ribs or Bolognese sauce.

2005 Paso Robles Zinfandel
The 2005 Christian Lazo Zinfandel has traveled a long and winding road to get to its final state of being. It started out being a small experimental lot of Zinfandel from Lot Seven, which we had recently purchased from a local farmer, Richard Sauret. Within three days the sugars or Brix had spiked from just under outrageous to ‘no way to get dry’. Luckily, our original ten acres was a little bit behind and we were able to pick a like amount of this fruit, get fermentation started and feather in the stuck juice from Lot Seven. We like the results, having the light fruits, pepper and spice from our original vineyard layered on to the darker plum and lavender flavors of Lot Seven. Paired well with tri tip and beans.

2006 Petite Sirah
For a grape that typically makes a big hearty wine, this Petite Sirah is amazingly delicate. We regularly lose half the crop to sunburn and have to drop the fruit to the ground. What is left, however, is a beautifully complex rendition of this classic grape. While it can easily stand up to a big Midwestern steak its undertones of cinnamon, cloves and allspice is also easily paired with fare that is more reserved.

2007 Sauvignon Blanc

The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc is our first try at a white wine.  The fruit is from the famous French Camp Vineyards in the Paso Robles AVA.  The wine is crisp and has wonderful hints of pineapple and citrus fruit.  The wine bursts with aromas of Mango and tropical fruits.  It is a real pleasure to drink on hot Paso Robles afternoons or with fresh grilled fish such as mahi mahi or grilled shrimp Diablo

2005 Cabernet Franc

This Cabernet Franc comes from an old farmer friend. He pretty much gave us the fruit in 2005. We took it thinking to blend it with some Cabernet Sauvignon. It was a well-behaved child through fermentation and grew into greatness as time pasted. After two years in the barrel, this Cab Franc was just too good to blend, so we went with it straight. It has all the classic mineriality of Cab Franc and shows heights that this grape can accomplish.

2006 Paso Robles  Zinfandel
Lot 7

This Zinfandel is from a small block that was planted in 1980 with a clone unique to Paso Robles. It received the moniker of UberZin from all the grief that it has given us in making the wine. After three harvests, we have been able to restrain, yet not tame, this thoroughbred. It exhibits an austere, sophisticated character while giving the spice and fruitiness that is Zinfandel.

2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is from a Paso Robles mountain vineyard. It is difficult site with three microclimates within eight rows of two hundred vines! But what fruit it can produce! Careful harvesting of the vines on a plant-by-plant basis gave us three distinctly different grapes that are blended into this complex version of this wine of noble heritage. Great with any prime steak and grilled summer vegetables.

2005 Paso Robles Rose of Zinfandel
The Paso Robles AVA is known for its cool summer nights and hot hot days. This climate lets the grapes develop superb flavors, but it means that at the end of a day of farming a big red wine is just not satisfying. Acknowledging this, we sat out to make a refreshing tart wine that still had the character of Zinfandel that we so love. We drink this wine in the late afternoon with spicy grilled chicken breast, fresh vegetables and tortillas hot off the grill.
